Iranian regime executes 12 prisoners in one week

Iranian regime continues executions in Iran. It carried out 12 death sentences between 12 and 19 December. According to reports, the regime has thus carried out 239 executions in 2020. However, there is a large number of blackouts because the regime and its media do not announce all executions.


Last week, the UN General Assembly expressed serious concern over the regime's widespread use and execution of the death penalty in violation of Iran's international obligations.


The UN General Assembly called on the regime to end executions and demanded that it ban public executions, the death penalty for minors, and torture and other cruel acts, both in law and in practice.


Executions carried out all over the country

Two prisoners, Behnam and Shoaib Rigi, were executed on Saturday, December 19, in the city of Zahedan Prison in Sistan and Baluchistan Province.


Three other prisoners, Shahab Javid, Rasoul Ferdows and Mohammad Morad, were executed on December 17. The executions were carried out in prisons in the cities of Qom, Boroujerd and Saqqez (in the province of Kurdistan).


A day earlier, the regime executed three Mehdi, Arastoo and Maysam prisoners in the Rajaishahr prison in the city of Karaj.


Two other prisoners and journalist Ruhollah Zam were executed on Saturday, December 12. Zam was executed in an unknown location while the others were executed in the city, the Esfaray.


During the week, the regime executed a woman in the Sepidar prison in the city of Ahwaz. The regime's so - called judiciary did not announce the name of the victim or the exact date of her execution.
