Washington lies Erdogan about the Patriot missiles

An American official lied Erdogan's repeated allegations about his country's choice of the Russian missiles due to the failure to reach an agreement with Washington to purchase the advanced American Patriot system.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said, "There have been many opportunities over the past ten years for Turkey to acquire the Patriot defense system from Washington, but instead it has chosen to buy the S-400 Russian."

Kirby stressed that his country has not changed its position on this issue, calling on Erdogan once again to abandon the Russian missile systems.

Washington had prevented any license to export weapons to the Turkish government agency in charge of military procurement as a punishment for its purchase of the Russian missile system.
